Future of the Left : Curses
A world more advanced, focused and polished than their former act McClusky, Andy Falkous and Jack Egglestone returned in late 2007 with new act Future of the Left. It still has a familiar, yet advanced new wave sound, and its almost pop friendly whilst still managing to sound completely unique.
Falkous’ vocals mixed with new man Kelson Mathias who provides backing (dual?) vocals on most of the tracks, combined with some truly bizarre and unfathomable lyrics makes for an entertaining mix.
Get a copy of ‘Curses’ and I promise you won’t be disappointed. At this point i’d like to liken them to some kind of other acts to give a kind of ‘if you like X, you’ll like Y’ but i’m finding it tricky.. Best example I could give maybe is Bleach era Nirvana meets The Crazy World of Arthur Brown.. have a listen for yourself, here’s their latest video for ‘Manchasm’, the new single from the album.
