Future of the Left : Curses
A world more advanced, focused and polished than their former act McClusky, Andy Falkous and Jack Egglestone returned in late 2007 with new act Future of the Left. It still has a familiar, yet advanced new wave sound, and its almost pop friendly whilst still managing to sound completely unique.
Falkous’ vocals mixed with new man Kelson Mathias who provides backing (dual?) vocals on most of the tracks, combined with some truly bizarre and unfathomable lyrics makes for an entertaining mix.
Get a copy of ‘Curses’ and I promise you won’t be disappointed. At this point i’d like to liken them to some kind of other acts to give a kind of ‘if you like X, you’ll like Y’ but i’m finding it tricky.. Best example I could give maybe is Bleach era Nirvana meets The Crazy World of Arthur Brown.. have a listen for yourself, here’s their latest video for ‘Manchasm’, the new single from the album.

G2P Firefox Plugin
After a bit of tinkering, and some excellent groundwork from Hendo Walkley, we managed to knock up a simple Firefox plugin that gives you a G2P toolbar.
If you’re not familiar with g2p.org, its a site that lets you search for audio files online. I’ve made a little site explaining the concept and provided you with a download to install it on Firefox. This should work on PC/Mac and on Firefox 1.5/2.x

Track Me Silly.
It occured to me a few weeks ago whilst chatting random nonsense with some mates on a thread in Gmail that those threads could be utilized for something more practical, yet still fun.
So I copied all my friends email addresses who use Gmail into a new mail called ‘Track Me Silly’ and requests reply-to-alls with music links only, in a kind of DJ your day kind of feel. As I described it at the time, “like Last.fm, but rubbish”.
This went well for a while, with a fair few links posted up and some great new musical discoveries shared amongst us, but then my friend Ben Tandy, Flash grand master, decided to up the Ante, and knocked up a slick flash interface for the same concept. Hes even built in uploading, and Youtube links, which is ace. I suggest you take a look, as its rather fuckin cool.

New Sounds..
After a long break of doing sod all musically, I’ve finally broken the spell and done a few new tracks. They’re just quick knock togethers as i’m busy with all sorts of other work-based jazz at the moment, so for now i’m just gonna post links and not bother putting them in the flash player in my music section of this site. Anyway, enough chat, here are the links.. Also, if you’re a drummer anywhere near Bournemouth, then give me a shout! Myself and a couple of mates want to get some kind of band together. ps. yes as usual I’ve chosen nonsense titles as they’re all instru-mental.

Baroness – The Red Album
Recently discovered Baroness via the good ol Rock Sound promo Cd, and have been raving about them since. Therefore its only appropriate that I mention them on here!
If you’re a fan of bands like Isis and Pelican (I’m not, I find them pretty dull and pretentious to be honest..) you’ll most likely be into Baroness. But Baroness are more than just another one of these Isis ripoff prog bands, they have a southern feel to them reminiscent of bands such as Cancer Bats or The Bronx.
Mix that with the stoner-jam ethic of bands like Monster Magnet and the complex riff-based rock of Ride the Lightning era Metallica and you’ve got yourself Baroness. I freakin love it.
